Your business begins at the state level. Your business entity was originally registered at the state level and must be renewed every single year. States will typically send you an email reminder for annual renewal, as does Singletrack Accounting!
Go to your Secretary of State's website. If you don't know the website, simply enter ">mystate< business search" into Google. Locate your business registration > locate and click the link for annual renewal > renew and pay!
