Chiropractic, Spa, Gym or other Self-Care expenses as business deductions?
Unfortunately the short answer is no.
For the company to deduct it, it would have to include the value of it in the employee's W-2 income, as a benefit, thereby erasing any tax benefit.
Work around Hence the popularity of HSA/FSA plans. This is the workaround provided by the tax law...have your company contribute to an HSA or FSA (or even a health plan that DOES cover these expenses), and then pay for these services through those avenues.
Tax Evasion 101 : have your company pay for your personal stuff and deduct it, but don't claim it as Owner Compensation on a W-2....Do not do this!
