The very first step in hiring a new Employee is to educate yourself on Employer rules for the state where your Employee lives and works.
You must comply with all state laws, state registration requirements and payroll tax agencies in which your Employees are physically located.
How to add new Employee to Gusto Payroll? See Gusto support article here >> Add Employees
- The Gusto support article above will walk you through sending an email invitation to your new Employee to "self- onboard" i.e. enter all their personal data
- Once an Employee has entered all their personal date, Gusto will keep all required employment forms on file inside the app
- Gusto will ask if you want to send the "New Hire" report for your new Employee - say yes!
- If your new Employees's location requires additional tax agencies to be opened, hire CorpNet for this work. Do not attempt to navigate new state or local tax agencies if you do not fully understand this process
PRO TIP - hire CorpNet to setup any new state or local tax agencies that are required.
This is one of the most difficult parts of payroll, knowing which agencies are required and the nuances of applying for them, so hire the experts!
Also note that your Gusto subscription can be upgraded to include HR services.
If you need any assistance you may use Gusto's in-app chat support, their outstanding Support Center, or contact your Singletrack Team.
