If you are using your Gusto Payroll app to pay your 1099 Contractors - we have good news! Gusto will automatically collect W-9 information and automatically email 1099s in January! Hallelujah!
(You should still always collect a paper W-9 from your vendor and keep it in your permanent files.)
Invite your new Contractor to be paid through Gusto:
- log into your Gusto Dashboard > click People > Click Contractors > Click Hire > click Add a Contractor > answer the questions and enter the Contractor's email !
Once you pay a 1099 Contractor or Service Vendor through Gusto, continue making all future payments through Gusto. If you make any payments to The Vendor outside of Gusto, that payment will not (obviously) be known to Gusto and will not be included on the 1099.
Keep it simple and use Gusto to pay your 1099 Contractors and Service Vendors!
Monthly fees are only $6/per each active contractor / employee and include free 1099s.
