We are extremely vigilant with security. You’re going to hear us remind you when you do something or send something in a unsecure way that jeopardizes sensitive information. What is sensitive information? Well its social security numbers, it bank account numbers, its passwords, its any identifying information that you would not want to hand out to strangers on the street.
How do we keep sensitive data safe? You have to get it out of your email. Email is not secure. Anytime that you email a social security number, you have placed someone in harms way. Cyber insurance brokers will tell you this: If you email something lets say a contractor’s 1099 and your email gets hacked and the social security gets stolen, you are liable for damages. You MUST stop emailing sensitive data.
As part of your service we have many secure ways to exchange data and documents.
- We use KarbonHQ.com for customer requests
- We use secure online forms
- We share folders with you that contain records, tax returns & documents
- We even have a secure voice mailbox on our business phone 877.410.4343 extension 5
- 1Password.com Password encryption vault
Just a quick word about passwords. If we could force one app on you it would be a password manager. The one we use at Singletrack runs about $3/month. The apps stores all your passwords so its a quick copy and paste or you can setup your browser to enter passwords for you. We have thousands of passwords and not one of them is the same! No one can guess them and all we have to remember is one password to access my password app.
This is the kind of modern day convenience that just makes your life easier and more secure for about $3/month.
